The Issue is Philosophical - Not Practical

Majority of Americans are having a very difficult time understanding why Democrats and Republicans can’t simply come to a compromise.   In my humble opinion, the issue is not practicality but philosophical.
As a practical matter, there is approximately 1.5% of Americans  making over 250K.  Wow, this means nearly 98% of Americans are being held hostage because of a philosophical issue.  So what is this grand philosophical issue.  The philosophical issue is capitalism.   Webster defines capitalism as “an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market.”  So with that definition in mind and the current strong objection by the Republican party here is the real deal – money has a greater influence in America than the common welfare of an individual.
Consider this; the argument is that there has not been any deal that reduces spending that is agreeable. As I understand, the spending called for is on medicare, social security, and  unemployment benefits.  From a practical aspect, each of these programs was setup to help individuals, but from a philosophical perspective, these programs are argued to be socialism.

So the greater issue at hand is that there is still a strong phobia to anything that hints at socialism and does not uphold the principles of capitalism.
But 98% of America is not concerned with philosophical issues, we simply want to have a means to provide for our families and purse a healthy and productive life.  So hopefully, the two parties can come down from their philosophical mountains and make a practical compromise.
